Description

An architecture tour through Berlin, city tour of architecture since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Rarely has the building activity been more exciting than in the years after the reunification of Berlin. The German government, embassies, ministries, foundations and numerous domestic and foreign investors began to transform the city with their buildings and to close the remaining gaps left by war and division. Berlin was suddenly on everyone's lips. Young architects were given a chance, already well-known ones were honoured to be part of it. Not without controversy and often with discrepancy between urban planners and building owners, tens of millions of square metres of office and residential space have been built over the last 30 years.

Renzo Piano, Helmut Jahn, Rafael Moneo, Rem Koolhaas, Sir Norman Forster, Ieoh Ming Pei, Sir Nicolas Grimshaw, David Chipperfield, Frank O. Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Heinz Tesar, Daniel Libeskind, Josef Paul Kleihues, Hans Kollhoff, Max Dudler, Oswald Mathias Ungers, Sauerbruch & Hutton, gmp...

These are some of the architects who have helped to shape the new Berlin.

We want to show you the most interesting and spectacular buildings from the outside and inside in the context of the old and future cityscape.
This should not only be a tour for professionals, but should enable especially laymen to distinguish between the different architectural styles and to understand the effect of different facades. Be curious!
